EAST?LONGMEADOW – Last week 10-year Town Councilor Eric Madison announced his resignation this fall on September 1, 2017 in a Facebook post.

Though he’s been an active member of East Longmeadow for years, Madison’s reason for retirement revolve around him moving out of the area.

“My wife and I were presented an opportunity and we decided to take it so we’re now moving,” Madison said.

During his time in office, he’s served on the towns appropriations committee and been involved in the charter commissions.

Though he doesn’t feel that they’re his accomplishments, he did believe there were a few notable moments during his years of service.

“I was a member of the appropriations committee when the town turned into the new form of government.  Some people may disagree, but I think we’ve been in good financial shape and we’ve tried to keep our tax rate reasonable without any loss of services to the community.  I was also involved with the charter commissions and we developed a charter that was accepted by the town,” Madison said.
