EAST LONGMEADOW – In celebration and a culmination of a year of events in honor of East Longmeadow’s 125th Anniversary, the town will be having a Celebration Dinner on Nov. 16. Residents are encouraged to purchase tickets to the event to enjoy dinner, drinks and lively conversation about the town’s history.

The 125th Celebration Dinner will begin at 5:30 p.m. with a social hour, with dinner commencing at 7 p.m. East Longmeadow-based business 3 Guys Catering will be serving food for the event, offering four food stations – a pasta station, vegetable station, a carving station and a chicken station. La Fiorentina and Pete’s Sweets will provide dessert.

According to East Longmeadow Police Chief Jeffrey Dalessio, there will be a raffle and a two-piece band, as well as a video with photos of the town. Historical Commission Chairman Bruce Moore will be the emcee for the evening, sharing historical tidbits of the town as the night progresses.

“[The town] is fairly young, 125, when you look at surrounding communities we’re fairly young – but that doesn’t mean there’s no history within the town,” Dalessio reminded residents. He noted that the town was once a farm town, and then a quarry town.

Over the course of the year the 125th Committee has hosted a series of events along with other local organizations, such as the East Longmeadow Lions Club. The Lions Club brought back the East Longmeadow Fishing Derby in April, and residents painted the town red – among other colors – in the form of painted fire hydrants as a contest.

The 125th Celebration Dinner will take place at St. Luke’s Greek Church, located at 400 Prospect St. in East Longmeadow. Semi formal attire is recommended.

“I like to see the community come together for probably one of the last gatherings of the 125th. It doesn’t mean we stop being a community all together, but putting our eyes back on 125 years of the town,” Dalessio said. “I hope we have a good turn out and everyone comes out to share the spirit the town was built on.”

Tickets can be purchased for $40 per person at the town managers office, the East Longmeadow Police Department, the Fire Department, and the Chamber of Commerce office. The event is adults only, ages 21 and up. No tickets will be sold at the door, and seating is limited to 200 people.
