EAST LONGMEADOW– The East Longmeadow Fire Department is welcoming the community to the department’s Fifteenth Annual Candlelight Vigil in remembrance of the victims of the Sept. 11, 2001 terror attacks.

In the past, local government officials including state Sen. Eric Lesser, state Reps. Angelo Puppolo Jr. and Brian Ashe as well as Town Council representatives have spoken at the event.  This year, there will be readings from Fire Department personnel and the Fire Department chaplain.

According to East Longmeadow Fire Chief Paul Morrissette, the event generally has 100 individuals in attendance.

“The department continues to hold the vigil to help all of us remember the events of that day,” Morrissette said.

The Candelight Vigil will be held on Sept. 11 at 8 p.m. on the front lawn of the East Longmeadow Fire Department at 150 Somers Road.
