EAST LONGMEADOW – Reminder Publications will be returning to its roots of delivering community news focused on one community delivered directly to readers.

Beginning next month, the company will launch four new monthly magazines mailed to more than 10,000 homes in Agawam, Chicopee, West Springfield and Springfield. The monthly publications will replace the weekly newspaper that covers Springfield, Westfield, Holyoke, Chicopee, Agawam and West Springfield.

Each monthly will have news and feature stories for that community, Publisher Dan Buendo explained.

“We are very excited about the launch of these new publications at a time when most newspapers are cutting back we will be bringing more local news to the communities we serve. Plus, we are making the additional investment of delivering the papers directly to the homes via US Mail which we believe will benefit both our readers and our advertisers,” Buendo said.

Buendo added, “Instead of having one publication spread out among multiple towns as we do now, we will now have four separate editions, each one focused on serving just one community. The benefit of these separate editions is that the news found in each publication will be more local and focused solely on the community it serves. This way our readers will receive a publication delivered right to their mailbox filled with local news about their town! Plus you will see a different presentation of stories that will be more reader friendly and will include more full color, more photos, and a more local approach.”

Besides the mail delivery to 10,500 homes in each community, there will be 2,000 additional copies available for pick-up at select locations in Chicopee and Springfield.

Chris Maza, the assistant managing editor of Reminder Publications, will be the editor of the new monthlies.

“As the editor of these new monthly magazines, I’m excited for the opportunity to serve our existing readership in a new way and look forward to engaging an even newer and broader audience through our fresh new design, in-depth features, bold photography and deeper focus on the population it serves,” Maza said.

"Western Massachusetts is my home and I see it as the gem that it is and I look forward to showcasing what makes this area so unique and special,” he continued. “With that in mind, let me personally extend an invitation to reach out with any story ideas, feedback, questions, or even just a kind word. I can be reached at 525-6661, ext. 123, or chrism@thereminder.com.”
