EAST LONGMEADOW – Reminder Publications recently received a distinguished honor, highlighting the company’s decades of dedication to providing quality news coverage to local readers.

It was recently announced that the Thursday edition of The Reminder received the coveted Vic Jose Award for General Excellence at the 2016 Independent Free Papers of America Conference in Orlando, FL.

“We are extremely proud of our employees who work day-in and day-out to produce quality publications for both our readers and advertisers,” Dan Buendo, co-publisher, said. “Without their dedication, awards like these would not be possible.”

The honor is awarded based on the publication’s overall appearance, use of photographs, graphics and artwork, page organization, print and graphic quality, general readability and overall look and design.

Vice President of Sales Doug Fabian added, “I am proud to be associated with a team that brings a top quality product to our readers. This award affirms that The Reminder is among the best of the best in our industry nationwide.”

Assistant Managing Editor Chris Maza and Assistant Editor Chris Goudreau make up the editorial team primarily assigned to The Reminder’s Thursday edition with support from Managing Editor G. Michael Dobbs and PRIME Editor Debbie Gardner.

“The award underscores the great work done by Chris Maza and Christopher Goudreau on a weekly basis in delivering an outstanding local news package to our readers,” Dobbs said.

The Thursday edition, with a circulation of 25,000, serves the communities of East Longmeadow, Longmeadow, Hampden, Wilbraham and parts of Springfield.

“Chris Goudreau has done a tremendous job connecting with the residents and public figures in the communities in which he works and the result is terrific local news coverage of the events and issues that matter most to our readers,” Maza added. “That, along with the tireless efforts of our Creative Department, our outstanding sports photography and great local advertising makes us the go-to resource for those interested in what’s going on in their own backyard.”

Graphic Design Manager Beth Thurber also noted, “Taking home the IFPA’s top honor is a huge accomplishment for us. This award represents all the great work of our entire team, all year long, and I'm proud to be a part of that team.”

Reminder Publications also received top honors in two other categories. Sports photographer  George Skovera was awarded first place in the Original Photography – Sports or News division and the company took top billing for its design work in the Self Promotion Advertising Design category.

Reminder Publications is no stranger to national notoriety. In 2015, the IFPA awarded the company the Vic Jose Award for its Go Local Magazine, among several other accolades.

The Reminder also took second in Vic Jose Award voting in 2010.
