HUNTINGTON – The Huntington Community Events Committee and the Huntington Recreation Committee have announced music and baseball events of interest to all Hilltown residents.

Free music is returning to the Huntington town green this summer, when Misty Blues will kick off the Huntington Summer Music Series July 15, with a concert from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Bringing lawn chairs is suggested.

Misty Blues of Williamstown pays homage to the older blues made popular by the bold and brassy women of its time, while still paying respect to classic male artists of the 20s, 30s and 40s. The band, featuring lead singer Gina Coleman, also performs blues-infused jazz, funk and soul.

Other upcoming bands include Rosie Porter & The Neon Moons on July 22, a classic country and honkytonk band from Greenfield.  Concerts are also scheduled for July 29 and Aug. 5, 12 and 19.

“The most popular event that our committee hosts is the free summer music series on the Huntington town green each summer,” said Vicki Mayhew of the Huntington Community Events Committee. She said information on future concerts will be posted on their Facebook page.

Mayhew also serves on the Huntington Recreation Committee, which is sponsoring “Hilltowns at the Starfires” at Bullens Field in Westfield on June 27 at 3 p.m.

The Starfires are a collegiate summer baseball team based in Westfield.  They play in the Futures Collegiate Baseball League (FCBL), a wood-bat league with a 56-game regular season comprising seven teams from New Hampshire to western Connecticut. The team plays its home games at Bullens Field.

“The Little League is participating and is going to throw out the first pitch.   We are inviting all the hilltowns. Join your friends, teammates and family for an afternoon of fun,” Mayhew said.

Tickets are $10, with hamburger, soft drink and chips added for $5. Tickets are available directly through link: tinyurl.com/Hilltowns.
