HUNTINGTON – Lisa D. Goding of Montgomery Road has announced a run as a write-in candidate for Huntington representative on the Gateway Regional School Committee in the special municipal election being run Sept. 6, concurrently with the state primary election, at Stanton Hall, 26 Russell Rd.

Goding has lived on Montgomery Road in Huntington for 15 years and in Massachusetts for 25 years. She is the program director for It Takes a Village, a nonprofit organization that runs the Village Closet in Huntington. Goding has a son at Littleville Elementary School and a daughter at Gateway Middle School.

She has been serving on the Gateway Regional School District’s Special Education Parent Advisory Council (SEPAC) since 2018 and was on Littleville Elementary School’s PTO in 2015 and 2016.

Goding said she is grateful to live in “one of the most beautiful places in the United States.”

“This community means the world to me and I am passionate about making our district the best it can be,” she said.

Describing her background in facilities management and finance, Goding said she has managed annual budgets of up to $34 million and teams of more than 1,000 individuals in K-12 and college and university settings.

“I stand for amazing curriculums and choices for our kids, including vocational opportunities, school safety, academic supports and, of course, fun,” she said. “I am hoping to be part of a movement that helps to make our district a great place in which families can thrive. This begins with incredible schools, and community services like It Takes a Village which I helped bring to Huntington in 2020. I promise that I will never stop making our students the top priority.”

Goding said voters for write-in candidates must correctly fill out her name and street name, “Lisa D. Goding” and “Montgomery Road,” in the blank spot under the School Committee write-in section.

“No one is currently running for the seat, but I hope to have strong community support in this election,” she said.

Goding said she would be happy to hear from voters about their questions or priorities for the district.

“If you want to speak to me or ask me anything, my email is Lisa@hilltownvillage.org or thedawnofLisa@gmail.com,” she said.

Goding said she had planned to take out nomination papers and have her name appear on the ballot, but missed the abbreviated five-day window to pull nomination papers in July.
