LONGMEADOW – Each year the People’s Choice Awards invites the public to vote on their favorite movies, movie stars, TV shows, talk show hosts and more. This year, Longmeadow resident and season 14 winner of competition show “The Voice” Brynn Cartelli was nominated for the Competition Contestant of 2018 category.

After a roughly year-long process of auditioning for “The Voice,” making it onto the cast, practice and filming, Cartelli became a star on the stage.

Over the course of the competition, Reminder Publishing had the opportunity to speak with Cartelli numerous times. Following the competition, Cartelli explained that she didn’t expect to win. In fact, she thought it would be anyone but her.

“I just thought it would be anyone else,” she said. “They’ve [the other contestants] been in the industry longer than I have been, everyone’s just older than me and have been in it longer.”

A few months removed from the competition, Cartelli is back in Longmeadow with her family and has been traveling and working on her music video and her album. A former Longmeadow High School student, Cartelli is now taking courses online which works with her hectic schedule.

The Competition Contestant of 2018 category is among 42 other categories for E!’s People’s Choice Awards. Cartelli is listed as a nominee alongside Becca Kufrin of “The Bachelorette,” Colton Underwood of “Bachelor in Paradise,” Nikki Bella of “Dancing With the Stars,” Maddie Poppe of “American Idol,” Cody Nickson of “The Amazing Race,” Eva Igo of “World of Dance,” Wendell Holland of “Survivor,” Adam Rippon of “Dancing with the Stars,” Aquaria of “RuPaul’s Drag Race,” Joe Flamm of “Top Chef,” and Miz Cracker of “RuPaul’s Drag Race.”
