LONGMEADOW – Families and friends gathered on the Longmeadow Town Green Nov. 28 for a sense of community and holiday spirit at the lighting of the town’s Christmas tree.

Town Manager Lyn Simmons recalled that her first public event as Town Manager was the Christmas tree lighting two years ago. She noted that it was one of only a few events before the pandemic shut down many businesses and kept people from gathering together. Simmons added that she was glad to be back enjoying the tradition.

After applause from the crowd when the tree was lit with thousands of colored bulbs, people sang from carol books handed out courtesy of the First Church of Christ. A soprano from the church, led people in singing the holiday songs.
