LONGMEADOW – This fall the Shot Shop Med Spa will be a permanent tenant at the Longmeadow Shops.

This will be the shop’s second location. They first opened in Enfield, CT in June of 2019.

Owner Leah Kenney said, “Longmeadow has been my stomping ground for a number of years. The opportunity came up to be part of what is really one of the best locations in Western Mass. and we just couldn't pass it up.”

The Shot Shop provides all kinds of medical rejuvenation services including skin, facial and joint rejuvenation. They offer Botox cosmetics, fillers, lasers, RF (radio frequency) micro needling and body contouring. One of the shop’s most popular devices is the emsculpt. It uses MRI (magnetic resonance imaging) technology to stimulate muscles to contract. They also have a body contouring device called bliss, which is a laser-based system that helps to destroy fat cells in unwanted areas such as love handles and abdominal fat.

“Our number one priority is wellness,” Kenney replied. “We’re going to offer a full array of services that help people look and feel better.”

She continued, “We have cryotherapy, IV vitamin therapy and photo biomodulation therapy [PBT red light therapy] coming to Longmeadow. We have a full LED [light-emitting diode] bed coming and different portable devices that are LED based.”

Kenney is  PA-C (physician assistant-certified) maintaining national certification with the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants. She graduated from Springfield College with a Bachelor of Science in Physician Assistant Studies in 1998, then advanced her degree to Master of Science in 2008, also from Springfield College.

Kenney was the right-hand woman of a local board-certified plastic surgeon. There, she split her time between seeing patients in the office for new consultants, procedures and follow-ups and assisting him in surgery at Baystate Medical Center. The practice was heavily focused on breast reconstruction, elective breast surgery and body contouring surgeries such as liposuction and abdominoplasties. They also performed elective cosmetic surgery of the face and eyes including facelifts, blepharoplasties and nose jobs.

Kenney recalled, “I truly believe it was my experience working in the office and in the operating room that gave me the thorough and comprehensive understanding of anatomy that makes me uniquely qualified to perform the safe, less invasive procedures that we offer at the Shot Shop.”

As Kenney’s life transitioned with different commitments outside of the office, she said it became clear that a life in the operating room was somewhat prohibitive.

“I had always had a certain flair for the aesthetic side of the business,” said Kenney. “I wanted to begin incorporating some wellness into the aesthetics as well. Having spent a lot of time making people feel better because they looked better. I also wanted to start helping them function better."

Having worked in plastic surgery for over 20 years, Kenney paid attention to the latest trends. One of them, being non-invasive procedures that were happening in medical spas rather than medical offices.

The shop is still in the design phase, but will be moving to the construction phase very shortly. It’s Kenney’s goal for the shop to be open in time for the holiday season. In the future, The Shot Shop is looking to bring experts from both in and out of the area to do evening seminars. In addition, they hope to create an environment for couples invested in their own wellness come in together.

“To have the opportunity to grow only 15 months after we opened in Enfield,” Kenney continued. “I’m very grateful to have this opportunity and excited about being a part of that Longmeadow Shop community.”
