Town votes ‘yes’ for new DPW facility

LONGMEADOW– The annual town election was conducted on Tuesday in Longmeadow.  Residents were able to vote for one Select Board member, three School Committee members and one Planning Board member.  There was only one question on the ballot, as to whether or not the town should construct a new Department of Public Works (DPW) facility.

A total of 2,251 residents showed up to the polls, which is 20.03 percent of Longmeadow’s registered voters.

By a mere 127 votes, Longmeadow townspeople voted “yes” to build a new DPW facility.

Marie Angelides, who currently serves as the Chair Person of the Select Board was voted in to continue to hold her seat.

Three School Committee members won seats on Tuesday including Elizabeth Baron, Kerrin Morrin, and Melanie Rothstein, who are all current members of the School Committee.  Thomas Mennella was beat out by his opponents at a close 115 votes.

Bruce Colton, the current Chair of the Planning Board was voted to keep his seat for the next five years.
