PALMER – Samantha Haraty, a Palmer native, recently brought her business home by opening a new storefront in the town she grew up in.

In May 2021, Haraty launched “Bina’s Boutique,” an online clothing store, in memory of her sister Sabrina “Bina,” who passed away in a motorcycle crash in 2020.

Offering a variety of clothing such as tops, dresses and loungewear, to hair clips, candles and more, Haraty has filled and shipped orders across the country. Now with the option for local pick-ups and an in-store shopping experience, Haraty has expanded her business to 1368 Main St., Palmer.

On April 16, Haraty was joined by family and friends for the grand opening of Bina’s Boutique.

“I didn’t think I was ready for a storefront yet,” said Haraty. She explained that she looked into a few potential locations, although they were expensive. After stumbling across the Palmer location on Craigslist, Haraty realized that her friend’s family owned the vacant territory. At the time, Haraty said another business was slated to occupy the space, but something fell through. Once it became available again, Haraty said her friend reached out and asked if she was still interested.

In January, she received the keys to bring her boutique to fruition. “I am so happy that it came back to me,” she said.

Haraty went on to say that the location seemed fitting. “Bina worked next door at Angel’s,” a popular breakfast spot, she said. Although Haraty now lives in Springfield, she said, “A lot of people that support me are around here.”

As her boutique is stationed on a fairly busy road, Haraty said that customers can “make a whole day out of it,” between shopping at Bina’s, having breakfast at Angel’s, lunch at the neighboring Steaming Tender Restaurant, and even relaxing at the salt spa next door.

While opening day attracted many customers, Haraty is hopeful to receive increased business as word continues to get out. She explained that she began her business on Instagram, in addition to offering local pop-ups. “[This was] my main way of getting out there,” said Haraty. Through these offerings, she has met many people who have assisted in spreading the word about her business.

Haraty advertises her boutique on social media, such as Facebook and Instagram.

She informed Reminder Publishing that she obtains merchandise from companies such as FashionGo, with “thousands of different vendors” to choose from. Depending on the items, prices differ. “Nothing is over $60,” said Haraty. She noted that everything costs between $20 and $60.

As Bina’s Boutique continues to grow, Haraty said, “I want to get shoes, jewelry and more accessories,” in addition to the clothing items that rotate out seasonally. All of the offerings in-store can also be found online.

For now, Haraty is operating the boutique by herself. “I would love to expand and [eventually] outgrow this space,” she said. She is hopeful that her family will invest in the business, allowing for it to both continue and expand even more.

Bina’s Boutique is open Tuesday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Saturday, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. They are closed Sunday and Monday.
