SPRINGFIELD – Twenty-eight teams came out on June 22 to slice their way through the waters of the Connecticut River at the 7th Annual Springfield Dragon Boat Festival. A dragon boat, a long, sleek style of canoe, has benches for twenty paddlers plus a person in the back to control the rutter. The paddling is kept in time by a drummer who perches above the boat at the bow.
