SPRINGFIELD – MGM Springfield opened its first Christmas season on Nov. 23 with the introduction of its outdoor skating rink. Olympic Silver medalist and Massachusetts native Nancy Kerrigan appeared at the opening. About 500 people attended the tree lighting later that evening in the casino’s plaza. The tree lighting included a visit from Santa Claus who arrived in a Rolls Royce convertible.
