SPRINGFIELD – The city’s own beer company will be featured at MGM Springfield – in fact it will be a special edition.

Ray Berry Jr., the president of White Lion Beer announced the company will produce “White Lion King of Hearts” to be served on the casino floor and other venues.

“We’re honored, “ Berry told The Reminder. “It’s been a great relationship and partnership since they moved to the city of Springfield.”

According to White Lion brew master Mike Yates, “This lager is brewed exclusively for MGM Springfield. It’s a classic German style lager, light amber in color with an abv of 4.7percent. It’s crisp and drinkable with subtle flavors, thanks to both German and American hops with a touch sweetness from German malts.”

This isn’t the first time White Lion has created a special brew. Berry noted the company produced an Oktoberfest for the Springfield Museums and a beer for Union Station.

Berry noted MGM has sponsored a number of events that featured White Lion product including the company’s own White Lion Wednesdays.

Anthony Caratozzolo, vice president of Food & Beverage for MGM Springfield observed, “White Lion has been on our radar since we first came into town. I’ve always been impressed with both the beer and owner Ray Berry’s tenacity and his commitment to Springfield.” Several months ago, Berry and Yates were invited in to talk specifics with MGM’s food and beverage team. The decision was made to develop a distinctive lager and Yates went to work. According to Ray Berry, “This lager is something special. The White Lion team is thrilled to be part of this extraordinary moment in Springfield’s history.”

Other beers made by White Lion will be available at the casino’s TAP Sports Bar.
