WEST SPRINGFIELD – The West Springfield Boys and Girls Club will host their annual Flutes and Flavors fundraiser event on March 27 to help fund programs they put on throughout the year.

Resource Development Director of the West Springfield Boys and Girls Club, Sarah Calabrese, told Reminder Publishing the event used to be known as the March Open House and was hosted in the gym of the club. This year, for the second year in a row, the event will take place at the Storrowton Carriage House on 1305 Memorial Ave. in West Springfield.

The new location, she said, drew a lot of people. “Last year was the first year we held it at a different venue, and [we] had a packed house,” she stated.

Calabrese said while the event has been taking place for seven years now, there’s still plenty of firsts in store for guests. New offerings include live music on the patio, new food vendors and an online silent auction.

She described the auction as “not your typical silent auction” as it’s done online leading up to the event. “It’s something we’re doing brand new and not a lot of other people do this,” Calabrese explained. The silent auction, which people can register for online now at http://wsbgclub.org/newsevents/flutes__flavors_20, will remain open until just before the live auction at the event begins.

Calabrese said the live auction begins the night of the event around 7:15 p.m. While both auctions offer an array of items to bid on, she said the live auction offers “more unique, one-of-a-kind type of experiences.”

“We have a craft brew tour, so that’s something that the breweries are putting on just for us, just for our event,” she said.

Guests can also look forward to an array of food and beverage vendors, including samplings from Crazy Seafood, a restaurant opening in West Springfield that has not yet opened. Also offering food and drinks during the event are Pintus who will serve Indian food, Two Weeks Notice Brewery and Skyline Beer Co.

Calabrese said this year, due to last year’s response, the club is “opening the patio area” so they’re “ready for a ton of people to show up.” She added that live music will be played on the patio.

She said the event was, in part, made possible by several vendors who donated money to the Boys and Girls Club. Such sponsors include TommyCar Auto Group and Sullivan Paper Company.

“The money raised goes directly back to the club to support our youth ages 2.9, because we recently started a preschool program, all the way to 18,” she explained.

“The funds raised are really vital to the operations of our programs, outreach efforts, and supporting families in need,” she continued.

Calabrese said the event will offer “something for everyone,” and she recommends buying tickets soon, as they tend to sell out quickly. The fundraiser will take place from 6 to 11 p.m. with food being served from 6 to 8 p.m. Tickets are $40 and can be bought at https://www.eventbrite.com/e/88008665287, through a board member, or at the Boys and Girls Club on 615 Main St.
