WEST SPRINGFIELD – From Feb. 22–24, the Springfield Sportmen’s Show will return for its 36th year to the Eastern States Exposition. The three-day event features vendors and appearances pertaining to hunting, fishing, boating and adventure recreation.

“This show focuses on fishing, hunting, adventure trips and equipment. It is an annual gathering place for those who enjoy the great outdoors,” said Doug Sousa, president of the Outdoor Sports Expo Group.

Guests are welcome to sign up for the event door prize: a one-year subscription to On The Water Magazine, which focuses on fishing.

Sousa said he feels the Springfield Sportmen’s Show is a great event for all ages. “All ages enjoy coming to the show. Many young folks have caught their first fish in the show’s Troup Pond. Moms, dads and kids alike have many things to see and do,” Sousa said.

For 2019, game hunter and television star Dick Scorzafava will be presenting at the Springfield Sportmen’s Show. Scorzafava is the author of three books titled “Radical Bowhunter,” “Radical Bear Hunter,” and “Spies in the Deer Woods.” He will be presenting his Radical Hunting Success Seminar, conducting a book signing and giving away hunting gear during the Dick’s Big Gear Giveaway.

Dave Pickering, known as the “Carp King” will discuss strategies for fishing at the show. Pickering is considered an expert in carp fishing.

Cory de Sousa, who was featured on Matthew’s Dominant Bucks TV and Whitetail Slam TV, will be displaying a booth at the show. His display will be based on great whitetail hunting. He has achieved a Whitetail Slam and is in the process of pursuing The Ultimate Whitetail Slam.

Representatives from the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs and The Springfield Vet Center will be on site to assist veterans and their families with understanding and being connected with veteran benefits. Outreach specialists from the Veteran’s Health Administration will also be present to provide information.

The Massachusetts Environmental Police will be at the show to register ATVs, snowmobiles and boats at their mobile van. Guests are welcome to pick up paperwork from the van to get vehicles registered.

Bass Pro Skip Bryant will be at the Springfield Sportsmen’s Show to share information and techniques on successfully catching fish in key locations in New England. Del Delmastro, a bow hunting professional, will also be available at the show to share tips and tricks for bow hunting.

Award-winning turkey caller Joe Judd will offer a seminar during the show on successful turkey hunting methods. Judd will share the knowledge he has gained after 35 years of hunting.

Geoffrey English, founder and editor-in-chief of GundogsOnline.com and Woodland Kennel will be on site to teach guests about training hunting dogs. English has been featured for his work on television programs such as Benelli’s American Bird Hunter. English will share the skills he has developed with the show audience.

Jurie Meyer of Jurie Meyer Safaris will be presenting his seminar, “Hunting Dangerous Game in Africa” for those who have ever been curious about going on an African safari.

Dean Vanier, a hunter of 35 years, will share his skills and information at the show. He is also the creator of North Woods Common Scents.

Randy Flannery, known to the hunting community as “Duke of the North Woods,” will be at the show to share his knowledge of whitetail hunting.

The Northeast Big Buck Display will return for the 2019 show, displaying trophy bucks from Massachusetts, Connecticut, Vermont, Rhode Island, Maine, New Hampshire, New York and Pennsylvania. The display is put on by the Northeast Big Buck Club, a non-profit organization focused on Northeast hunters and outdoorsmen.

For shoppers, fishing tackle vendors will be featuring goods including fishing reels, rods, plastic baits, fishing kayaks and boats. Al Gag will be selling his lures including the “Whip-It Eel” and “Whip-it Fish” at the show. The products are well recognized in the fishing community. Michael Farnham, owner of More Wildlife in Vermont, will be on-site to sell his line of seeds, fertilizers and trail cameras.

Sousa said he believes that the Springfield Sportmen’s Show is a great experience. “The feeling of likeminded ‘outdoor folks’ gathered together during their off-season has the feel of a friendly club rather than a show. People seeing each other again and comparing their outdoor experiences has a friendly glow to it.” Sousa said.

Sousa shared that the show is always looking for more vendors.

“The show always has room for more exhibitors because of its large size. With a wider variety of exhibitors, there is always something for every outdoors person.” Sousa said.

“When it comes to your favorite hobbies and interests, you really look forward to the biggest events. In the outdoor world of the Northeast, it’s the Springfield Sportmen’s Show. It is greatly rewarding to see folks so happy.” Sousa said.
