WEST SPRINGFIELD  – For the 24th year, the Holiday Tour of Homes is giving people a chance to glimpse into some of the most festive homes in West Springfield, all while raising money for the Boys and Girls Club.

Resource Development Director and Coordinator of Club Fundraisers, Sarah Calabrese, told Reminder Publishing there are seven homes on this years tour. The tour consists of homes on Main Street, Morgan Road, Cedar Woods Glen, Falmouth Road, Altamont Avenue and two homes on Dewey Street.

Each year the Boys and Girls Club sells the Holiday Tour of Homes Guidebook for $20 to those who wish to participate in the tour. The book, which serves as a ticket for the tour, includes photos and a description of each home on the tour, a map of the tour and a menu for a $15 lunch at the Storrowton Carriage House.

Calabrese said despite the decades-old tradition of the tour, the Boys and Girls Club is offering tour-goers new attractions this year. “For the very first time, the Boys & Girls Club will be opening up its doors for a Holiday Craft Fair,” she said. “Guests can stop by the Club located at 615 Main St. to shop from more than 30 local vendors.”

Another new stop for tour-goers this year will be at the Altamont Museum on Route 20. Calabrese said, “The Josiah Day House, the oldest known brick saltbox style house in the United States, has generously decided to share their toy collection with the Altamont Museum just for this event.”

She explained that in order to get to the museum, tour-goers will need to take a shuttle from Santa’s House on 1695 Westfield St. to the museum. The shuttle will be provided as part of the tour and while they wait for their ride, those on the tour can “stop inside Santa’s House for special treats” and “visit West Springfield firefighters who will be camping outside for their Homeless for the Holidays fundraiser,” Calabrese noted.

Tour-goers can also stop at the Storrowton Village Museum to enjoy a gourmet buffet lunch at the Carriage House, participate in their Annual Yuletide or get a hand-forged holiday ornament from the gift shop. Calabrese noted there are a limited amount of ornaments available and they will be “exclusive to the first 250 tour-goers.”

She said the event draws “more and more tour-goers each year” and guests often come from other states to “witness the magic of the holiday season in community, all while supporting the local youth.”

Calabrese said each year the tour is “one of the club’s most successful and crucial fundraising events.” She said, “Not only are guests giving back to the community and allowing our club members to thrive, they have the chance to experience a variety of activities throughout the day with their friends and family.”

She said “there is something for people of all ages and interests” and if the day “doesn’t get you into the holiday spirit, I don’t know what will.”

The tour and craft fair will take place on Dec. 7 from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tickets are $20 and can be bought at the following locations:
