WEST SPRINGFIELD – Stop by the American Legion Post 207 in West Springfield on Dec. 9 for a night of dancing, food and fun. Mike’s Auto Service and Repair will host the fourth annual Gift Cards for Kids with Cancer Benefit.

Laura LaValley Morris, who started Gift Cards for Kids with Cancer in honor of her daughter Momo’s battle with leukemia, feels giving back during the holidays is important for everyone in the community. “For our community to come together and help other families in times of need during the holidays, that is what it is all about. Everyone has the ability to give. A gift card is a simple way to do that.”

Two musical acts will perform during the event: LA’s BackStage Pass and Nitefall. LA’s BackStage Pass is a local 80’s metal band covering songs from acts such as Poison, Bon Jovi and Van Halen. Nitefall, from Enfield, is a band covering alternative, metal and classic rock songs.

Morris is excited to be a part of the benefit this year. “We are very excited to be able to be part of the concert for the kids. The entertainment is top notch, and we always have a blast at the event.”

The evening will also include food and raffles. Santa Claus will also visit during the event. Admission to the event is one gift card in any denomination for a store or restaurant. Gift Cards for Kids with Cancer recommend places such as restaurants, Amazon, iTunes or Walmart.

Morris welcomes the community to come take part in a fun night. “We are looking forward to it being a big success to help the kids at Baystate Children’s Hospital. It’s a great opportunity to have a fun night out, give back and kick off the holiday season.”

In 2017, donations from the community allowed Morris and her family to distribute $6,930 in gift cards and $15,000 in monetary donations to Baystate Children’s Hospital.

Gift cards are evenly distributed to children on active treatment at Baystate Children’s Hospital. Donations are also accepted directly to Morris via Facebook or by dropping them off at Mike’s Auto Service and Repair. The event will take place from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the American Legion Post 207 located at 83 Park Ave.
