WEST SPRINGFIELD – The West Springfield Lions Club recently unveiled their annual Veterans Park of Heroes display on the West Springfield Town Common.

The annual display, which was set up on Oct. 10, features rows of flags sponsored by residents and businesses across Hampden County. Each flag displayed on the common contains the information of a veteran or group of veterans that have served in one of the branches of the U.S. Armed Forces.

Money raised through flag sponsorship contributes to a scholarship fund run by the Lions Club. Each year students who plan to attend school in Hampden County and are children or grandchildren of veterans are given the chance to apply to the scholarship fund.

The display will be in the Town Common until Nov. 15. After the display is taken down, the flags which were displayed will be given to sponsors as a keepsake. Those interested in donating to the club or scholarship fund can do so by visiting www.westspringfieldlionsclub.org/veterans-park-of-heroes?fbclid=IwAR34ZKFIKN2k2fUeS8ltcEhai8EAtgYT9mgGKh2GVSDJP5JmL41yoQv_gOc.
