WEST SPRINGFIELD – The West Springfield Boys and Girls Club has announced they are hosting their Sixth Annual Flutes and Flavors Fundraiser on March 29. The event was formally known as their Open House but this year, the decision was made to rename the event and choose a new venue.

The fundraiser will take place at Storrowton Carriage House in West Springfield. The night will begin at 6 p.m. with food and beverage tasting.  Local breweries such as Two Weeks Notice, Skyline Trading Co. and New City will be there, sampling their craft beers. Everest Vodka and Horizon Beverage Company will also be at the fundraiser. A spread of food will be provided by Carrabbas, Calabrese Market, Pintus Indian Palace, The 99 Restaurant, Storrowton Carriage House and Short Stop Bar and Grille.

Sarah Calabrese, the resource development director of The Boys and Girls Club of West Springfield, shared with Reminder Publishing that the donors for the live auction were “extremely generous” this year. Calabrese commented that the big-ticket prize this year is a two-person cruise with a balcony view room provided by Cruise Planners. Attendees can also bid to win prizes such as a week-long vacation at a time share in North Carolina, a wedding planning package, Boston Red Sox Green Monster tickets and smaller items such as a facial package, a poker table and poker chip set.

This fundraiser is one of the Boys and Girls Club of West Springfield’s special events.

“Our special events are crucial in raising critical funding for our programs, outreach efforts, and families in need of financial assistance. Our mission is to “enable those who need us most in reaching their full potential,” and that’s exactly what we strive to do with all of the proceeds from our Flutes and Flavors Fundraiser,” said Calabrese.

Calabrese further explained that each year, the Boys & Girls Club of West Springfield provides a supportive and caring environment to over 650 children, ages five to 18. These members participate in their before and after school, vacation and summer camp programs at the Main Street location and five outreach sites. Within these programs, members can focus on their academic achievements, character building, and learning how to make smart, healthy lifestyle choices.

“Our club is wonderfully diverse, as our members exhibit a myriad of learning capabilities and represent various socio-economic, ethnic and language backgrounds. Our members come from all over the lower Pioneer Valley, and we are always looking for new and exciting ways to support even more youth from various communities,” Calabrese commented.

Tickets are currently on sale for $35 per person and can be purchased at the Main Street location or from a Board Member.
