WESTFIELD – Lisa DiLuzio and Kristie Ostrowski spent the pandemic split between their jobs at a Holyoke assisted living facility and at home with their family in Chester. They saw the effects of COVID-19 and the toll it took physically, mentally and emotionally. When at home, the life and business partners discovered crystals and the healing effects they can have. They began researching, and the more they learned, the more they knew they wanted to share this healing with the community. Their pandemic dream came true July 3 when they opened Crystals of Mind at 83 Main St.

“Everyone has been stressed out this past year and we want to help,” said DiLuzio, touting the healing powers of crystals. “Our motto is this is a peaceful place to visit.”

They selected the Westfield location because the store would be unique here. “We realized there was nothing like this in the area,” said DiLuzio, noting there are crystal shops in Easthampton, Northampton and Springfield, but nothing in the greater Westfield area.

Mayor Donald F. Humason attended the event and said, “Thank you for choosing Westfield ... Welcome! Everybody wants to see you succeed.”

State Sen. John C. Velis, state Rep. Kelly Pease and Westfield Chamber of Commerce Director Eric Oulette also attended the ribbon cutting and extended similar sentiments of welcome and congratulations.

DiLuzio said it was important to her and Ostrowski to be mindful of the earth and environment when opening their shop. They chose a variety of colors for the walls that work well together and used refurbished and recycled materials such as bookshelves and dressers to showcase their products.

“Everything is handmade or earth-made,” DiLuzio said.

Crystals of Mind offers an array of products, from tumbled stones starting at $2 to large crystals upwards of $200. Each crystal comes with an explanation of its origin and uses. There is also a handmade jewelry section, candles, books, tapestries, incense and more. DiLuzio said they have more stock coming and wanted to offer something for everyone.

Crystals of Mind will have weekly workshops, including jewelry making, as well as monthly speakers on a variety of topics related to crystals and healing. There is a meditation area under construction and DiLuzio said they will have Reiki massage and yoga.

Crystals of Mind is currently open Wednesday - Sunday from 10 a.m. - 6 p.m. DiLuzio said information on workshops and speakers will be posted on the Crystals of Mind Facebook page.
