WILBRAHAM –  Over the course of Palm Sunday, Good Friday and Easter Sunday Evangel Assembly of God will be presenting a three-part play titled, “In My Place.”

“In My Place” was written by parishioner Colin Tracy.  Tracy told Reminder Publications that the play focuses in on the characters of Barabbas and Pilate.

“I wanted the chance to draw a comparison to our own experience with those two characters, as I believe the gospel writers intended,” Tracy said. “I’ve always been drawn to looking at those we consider to be villains and helping us better relate to them.”

Tracy uses “In My Place” as a way to look at how events leading up to the crucifixion may have unfolded through a combination of Scripture, popular theory and church tradition.

On Palm Sunday, the play will show the events that led up to the crucifixion.   On Good Friday, the play will feature events from the trail through the crucifixion.  Finally, on Easter Sunday, there will be a short reflection portion of the play to bring it together.

“In My Place” boasts a cast of 15 people that range from teenagers to 50 year olds.  Kaycie Apprey is directing the play, and has been having rehearsals with the cast since January.

“The cast is working very well together, and we’re more than on pace. We just had a fight choreography rehearsal this past week so they’re all having lots of fun too,” Tracy shared.

Evangel’s production of “In My Place” will be free to anyone who chooses to attend.  The play will take place during the Church’s regular services, so there will be an offering taken.

“If anyone would like to donate, they can either donate to the church or designate where they would like their money to go, whether the theater department or missions or whatever they would like within the realm of the church,” Tracy said.

To witness the debut of “In My Place,” a three-part play, go to Evangel Assembly of God at 348 Stony Hill Rd. to catch the first portion at 9 a.m. or 10:30 a.m. on March 25, to watch the second portion attend the Good Friday, March 30 service at 6:30 p.m., and the final portion at either 9 a.m. or 10:30 a.m. on Easter, April 1.
