Fountain Park kicks off annual summer concert series

WILBRAHAM – For years, thousands of people have poured onto Wilbraham’s Fountain Park grounds to experience the town’s summer concert series, and this year is no exception. Fountain Park will be host to a series of live entertainment concerts for all to enjoy over the course of the summer.

On June 28 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Fountain Park welcome’s band, Trailer Trash, to the stage.  Trailer Trash is described as a, “modern country band.”

“Grab your date and come see the most unlikely band to ever hit the urban streets of Western Mass.! Come and sing along to all the songs you sing in your car while no one is looking. Put on a pair of boots and a cowboy hat if you like, or just come as you are, and enjoy a night of great music and fun!” the Fountain Park website reads.

On July 5 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. the park will host The Eagles Experience. The Eagles Experience aims to be an authentic tribute show to the Eagles. To learn more about The Eagles Experience, go to eagles-experience.com.

On July 12 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. funky-soul band Jus Us will take the stage at Fountain Park. Jus Us was founded in 2002 in Springfield.

“The eight-piece group performs old school Funk, R&B, Motown and Soul music with a touch of today’s Hip-Hop to give them a unique, upbeat sound. The members of Jus Us have previously opened for major artists such as The Temptations, Gladys Knight, B.B. King, Taj Mahal, The Manhattans, Howard Hewett, Maysa, Bob Baldwin, Marion Meadows, Tom Brown and Pieces of a Dream,” explorefountainpark.com explains.

On July 19 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Amherst Jazz Orchestra (AJO) will play on the concert lawn. Musical director Dave Sporny created the 17-piece Amherst Jazz Orchestra in 1996.

On July 26 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. six-member band The Cartells will be gracing the stage at Fountain Park. Along with the band, multi-instrumentalist and vocalist Bill Holloman will be joining the group. Holloman has recorded and or performed with Bruce Springsteen, Nile Rodgers, Paul Simon, Diana Ross, Blood Sweat and Tears, Slash, Steve Winwood, Elton John, Steven Tyler, Michael Bolton, Simon Le Bon, Patti Labelle, the B52’s, Faith Hill, Les Paul, The Fab Faux, Larry Gatlin and the Gatlin Brothers and Danny Gatton.

“The Cartells have been the favorite choice of people who want the best music, and the best time! Jazz, swing, Motown, R&B, rock and roll, popular music of all styles are equally represented in their impressive repertoire, and their dedication to defining and fulfilling the wants and needs of their audience results in every appearance being an event to remember,” Fountain Parks website states.

The final concert of the summer will take place on August 2 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. with The Tom Ingram Band.

“Since 1999, the Tom Ingram Band has been New England’s rock chameleons. Their immense range, shifting from 60’s classics to the rock ‘n’ roll of today, enables them to perform an extensive catalog of cover tunes as well as their own original material, showcasing the depth and diversity of their talent,” the Fountain Park site explains. “Whether covering a well-known hit or diving into a deep cut, they deliver the highest authenticity in paying homage to the artists and bands who inspire them.”

All of Fountain Park’s summer concerts are free but require a $5 parking donation per car unless the individual has a season pass. Food and drinks are available for purchase, however event-goers are welcome to bring their own. Fountain Park is located at 883 Tinkham Rd. in Wilbraham.
