HAMPDEN – The Hampden Public Library is partnering up with the First Annual Dingle Literary Festival in Dingle, Ireland through a transatlantic book club discussion with author Felicity Hayes-McCoy, a well-known Irish author.

The Dingle Literary Festival, also known as Dingle Lit, is a festival that aims to celebrate and enhance the cultural and economic life of the Dingle Peninsula, already widely known for its creativity. The festival aims to be an inclusive and accessible festival for adults and children focused on the literary arts – fiction, poetry and non–fiction in English and Irish – delivered through readings, workshops and performance.

The transatlantic book club will discuss “The Mistletoe Matchmaker,” the third in Felicity Hayes-McCoy’s Finfarran series of novels.

“Felicity Hayes-McCoy was born in Dublin in 1954 and first came to Corca Dhuibhne at the age of 17 to stay with Nell Hurley at An Carraigh. She emigrated to London in her twenties and built a successful career, first as an actor and then a writer, working in theatre, music theatre, radio, TV and digital media,” a press release regarding Hayes-McCoy stated.

The transatlantic book club, though facilitated by Director of the Hampden Public Library Ellen Moriarty, will be hosted at the John Boyle O’Reilly Club in Springfield at 2 p.m. on Nov. 23. Residents who are looking to participate in the transatlantic book club discussion can pick up a free copy of “The Mistletoe Matchmaker” at the Hampden Public Library, 625 Main St. in Hampden.
