Nomination papers for May 19 election now available

WILBRAHAM –  Wilbraham Town Clerk Beverly Litchfield announced nomination papers for numerous open elected positions in town are available in her office up until Mar. 29. The Annual Town Election is scheduled for May 19, which is when the positions will be voted upon.

Open positions Wilbraham residents are able to submit nomination papers for include one Selectman position for a term of three years, the Town Clerk position for three years, Town Moderator for three years, Town Assessor for three years, two open positions on the Regional School Committee for three years, Cemetery Commissioner for three years, Water Commissioner for three years, two positions on the Board of Library Trustees for three years each, one position on the Planning Board for five years and one position on the Wilbraham Housing Authority for five years.

To be listed as an independent candidate on the May 19 ballot a resident must obtain at least 50 signatures from registered Wilbraham voters.  The candidate must submit a letter stating their name, address and the office being sought at the time of the request to the Town Clerk.

Though Litchfield commented she isn’t aware of the positions meeting schedules or time commitments, residents could reach out to current members of the position they’re in search of with those questions.

The deadline for nomination papers to be submitted is April 2 at 5 p.m. For additional questions and information call the Town Clerk’s Office at 596-2800, ext. 200.  To pick up nomination papers, go to the Town Clerk’s Office at the Town Office Building, 240 Springfield St. in Wilbraham.
