WILBRAHAM – In the summer months, farmers markets pop up all over New England.  Wilbraham’s newest farmers market, Wilbraham Grown, is looking for more local vendors to participate.

Colleen Nadeau, owner of Creative Cakes by Colleen, is a vendor at Wilbraham Grown.  Though her business isn’t a typical “farmers market” vendor, Nadeau said the group is looking for locally sourced products or businesses.

“Wilbraham Grown started out as a group of Wilbraham farms, Green Acres Fruit Farm, Merrick Farm, White Cedar Farmfit, Stony Hill Farm, with the goal of promoting local agriculture and encouraging Wilbraham restaurants to use produce grown in Wilbraham,” Nadeau said.

Currently, Wilbraham Grown offers tomatoes, eggplant, bell peppers, sweet corn, zucchini, summer squash, cucumbers, lettuce, salad mix, carrots, green beans, garlic and berries.  In the autumn months, the market will have winter squash and pumpkins.  The market also bodes fresh cut flowers, sugar scrubs for the skin, local honey, eggs and herb plants. Additionally, Creative Cakes by Colleen sells a variety of fresh sweets including cupcakes, cookies, zucchini and banana breads, cake pops, Oreo pops and chocolate dipped fruit.

“We want to make it easy to find fresh, locally grown food,” Nadeau said.

The Wilbraham Grown Farmers Market takes place every Monday from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. next to Gregory’s Pizza on Boston Road in Wilbraham.

Vendors who are interested in participating in Wilbraham Grown should contact Alice Colman of Stony Hill Farm at 279-4125 or stonyhillfarm01095@gmail.com.  Preference is given to Wilbraham-based vendors or vendors using products from Wilbraham.
