Misplaced anger

March 22, 2018 |

I am not a gun owner nor a member of the NRA and I have no interest in either of those items. I have no issue with people owning guns, other than assault weapons, which should be only in the hands of the military and/or the police.

However, I think that the anger at the NRA over the mass shootings is misplaced anger. The thing that angers me about the leadership of the NRA is their total disregard for what most Americans are asking for in the world of gun control.

The callousness of the leadership was most recently evident in the comments made by their spokeswoman,  Dana Loesch, who said that the mainstream media “love mass shootings” because “crying white mothers are ratings gold.”

Those comments make her sound just like the kind of lunatic who should not be allowed to own a gun.  “Love mass shootings “– that is insane and apparently so is she. Hopefully the reaction to the NRA by major companies will be coupled with people ending their memberships in an organization that is led by people who do not seem to value life at all as long as the organization can have its way, especially with Congress.

Their ownership of Congress is a despicable example of total disregard for what most Americans want to see done and Congress is just as much, or maybe even more at fault for allowing such ownership to exist. Gun laws are observed only by those people who are law-abiding citizens, while those people who live outside the laws continue to get all of the guns they want.

The NRA should represent their membership, but not by the refusal to care about or recognize the rest  of our citizens.
