Prayers are needed

March 29, 2018 |

Very relevant to the topic of school shootings is whether the shooters were taking prescription anti-depressants, a side effect of which can be violent behavior.  Information published by renowned expert Dr. Ann Blake Tracey is found on her website: www.drugawareness.org . She found that 17 school shooters were prescribed prescription anti-depressants.   The Newtown, CT shooter Adam Lanza had been prescribed Fanapt, a drug which the FDA legalized after it initially was rejected. This should be investigated.  Anti-depressants are dangerous.  Nutritional counseling offers real solutions and should be considered first.  I suggest that the focus of protests and investigations should be the AMA and  FDA, not the NRA.

Mr. Fitzgerald in his letter of March 1 said he favors abolishing the 2nd Amendment, which reads : “A well-regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed.”

Protecting this right was second only to protecting free speech, to the Founders who knew what it was to live under tyranny.  They also knew that imperfect human beings are capable of evil and implemented 3 branches of government to guarantee checks and balances.

Prior to 1963 schools taught the Moral Law; it’s painfully evident the disastrous ruling to remove it  is the cause of our decline economically, academically, internationally, and morally.  Mr. Fitzgerald recommended that personally owned firearms should be kept under lock and key and guarded in a centralized location, but that would render homeowners  powerless to defend themselves from becoming victims in their own homes from thieves, rapists and murderers.   If implemented, crime would escalate.

Consider Switzerland, which requires every adult to own a firearm and even provides them to its citizenry, has the lowest violent crime rate per capita in the world and is clear evidence that private gun ownership is a tremendous deterrent to crime.  I would suggest that police officers are well aware of two things:  homeowners who can protect themselves are better off than those who can’t, and that criminals will always have access to firearms.

Mr. Fitzgerald correctly stated that today’s culture encourages the violence we are suffering.  Films, which “glorify assassins, etc.” contribute to increased violence in society.  However, the same people who produce these films are members of the same liberal establishment which supports not only gun control but also Planned Parenthood/the abortion industry, which is by far the leading cause of childhood death and the most cruel; the horror of abortion has resulted in nearly 60 million dead since its inception and I wish to emphasize that it is a torturous death.

The letter writer in his final paragraph states that now is not  “a time for just thoughts and prayers”, while I believe that now is indeed the time for deep thought and fervent prayer as the future of our once free country is at stake.
