Thank you Janauary 11, 2012
It is with the deepest gratitude that I write to our community at large to thank all of you for providing The Community Survival Center with the food and monetary resources that we needed to distribute holiday food baskets to our emergency food pantry clients. Your generosity enabled 363 families to enjoy a traditional Thanksgiving or Christmas dinner in their own homes.
Although we have been struggling for months to keep enough food on our emergency food pantry shelves, we felt that this year it was more important than ever to offer our Holiday Meal Program and through it to give our families a respite from their hardships. It was to be sure a leap of faith, but you our loyal and generous donors did what you always do: you opened your hearts to your neighbors in need and sent us what we needed. The successful outcome of this year’s Holiday Meal Program stands as a testament to the fact that our work is truly made possible by our community.
As we begin a new year, I ask all of you not to forget those who are struggling to feed their families. The holiday season has ended, but The center’s need for food remains critical and constant. Almost all of the food that was donated during November and December has been distributed, so we face January, a lean food donation month, with little in reserve.
We know we can count on you to restock our food pantry shelves because many, many people are counting on us and going hungry is not an option.
