Weeds out of control

Sept. 18, 2019 |

We just went through another summer with vegetation along our roads out of control. It makes Connecticut and Massachusetts look like they are going out of business.  Sure it takes money to maintain, but maintenance is not the answer.

I would think we would expect RFPs and Proposals for road construction to include a proposal for alongside the road with vegetation that looks pleasing and requires minimum maintenance.

I am sure our good colleges may have some good suggestions. In some places like the ramp at exit 49 entering I 91S the grass/weeds get so high you cannot see oncoming traffic.  While I am at it, I think shrubs and tree branches that block street and highway signs should be trimmed, even if they are on private property.  I know the  responsibility could be with federal, state or city governing bodies. We should have the pleasure of neat and attractive roads as we dodge the pot holes.
