Aug. 14, 2013
CHICOPEE – Elms College Athletic Director Peter Krasny recently announced the hiring of Sean Milbier as the new head women’s soccer coach.

Milbier officially began his career with the Blazers on Aug.12.

Milbier takes over the women’s soccer program, which finished 8-10-2 overall in 2012 and earned its fifth consecutive spot in the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Championship.

“I am very excited to welcome Sean Milbier in to the Blazer community,” Krasny stated. “Sean brings a tremendous amount of energy to our program, and his experience as a former NCAA Division III student athlete combined with his coaching background will position the women’s soccer team well for the future.”

Prior to joining Elms, Milbier spent three years as a volunteer assistant coach for the Western New England University women’s soccer team. During his time there, Milbier helped direct the Golden Bears to a 25-34-4 overall record and three straight Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Championship tournament appearances including the semifinals in 2010 and 2011.

In 2010, Western New England also qualified for the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III New England Championship.

On the field, Milbier was a former standout on the Golden Bears men’s soccer squad from 1997-2000, and served as a team captain his senior season. A forward, he compiled 46 points on 17 goals and 12 assists during his career. He was the team MVP after his senior year and Player of the Year in 2000.

The Springfield native was also a former youth player with the Western United Football Club for current Golden Bears’ women’s soccer coach Ron Dias.

Milbier earned his bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from Western New England in 2000.
