HUNTINGTON – Library volunteers are needed this year to help at Littleville and Chester Elementary Schools.

Littleville Elementary School Library is looking for parent or community volunteers to come in one (or two) times a week, for a morning or an afternoon shift, to work with students and teachers during their library visits. This work can include activities like reading to students, helping students find books, checking books out to students, and helping on the computer.

Assistant Librarian Nicole Daviau said four shifts are available at Littleville, on Mondays from 9 to 11 a.m. and 12 to 2 p.m., and on Wednesdays from 9 to 11:30 a.m. and 12:30 to 3 p.m.

Volunteers are needed at Chester’s library on Tuesdays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., and on Friday mornings from 9 a.m. to noon.

“This is a great way to stay involved with your kids and your community and stay on top of what’s happening in the school. It’s also very rewarding, as almost all students love their library time,” Daviau said.

No experience is necessary to help in the school libraries, but CORI checks are required.  Daviau said the school will conduct the CORI.

If you’re interested, contact Bill Brown at wbrown@grsd.org or Nicole Daviau at  ndaviau@grsd.org or stop by the schools.
